Employees aren’t just cogs in the machine; each individual brings their own unique mental health needs to the table. In this article, we’ll explore how coworkers help create an environment of understanding and acceptance for everyone’s mental health needs, how individuals can make their own mental health a priority, and how Percepta takes steps to ensure everyone’s mental wellbeing is taken seriously.
When life happens to our mental health
Mental health is a complicated topic that affects us all differently. Brushing off the signs of mental illness, or worse yet, ignoring them altogether is far too easy. We should remember that we all have unique needs when it comes to our mental wellbeing and we have to take the time to identify and address our own individual stressors.
Take, for example, the story of one of our Percepta People from the Philippines who was diagnosed with Severe Anxiety Disorder last year. They described their experience as “a thunderbolt out of nowhere” that took a toll on their body and mind. The root cause of their anxiety disorder stemmed from the loss of a close relative, which left an unbearable void in their life.
Despite feeling overwhelmed by these emotions, they eventually sought help from someone who had the expertise to guide them through the healing process. With support and encouragement from those around them, they were able to find strength in themselves and courageously pursue recovery.
Stories like this remind us of how powerful it can be when we reach out for help in times of need—that we aren’t alone in our struggles. Mental illness shouldn’t be seen as a sign of weakness; rather, it is an opportunity for resilience and strength that should be embraced and celebrated.

Words can make a difference for your mental health, whether they come from a coworker or elsewhere.
If you or someone you know struggles with mental health issues, please take time to listen without judgment and offer support when needed—your words may just be what they need to keep going on their journey towards recovery.
How coworkers help our mental health
Having a supportive team in the workplace is essential to maintaining mental health. At Percepta, teams often do check-ins to get to know each other’s mindset and gauge how everyone is feeling. These check-ins help build trust and understanding between teammates, while also providing an outlet for any worries or stresses.

Percepta People also take the time to unwind. Having lunch together or taking a break from work for some fresh air helps maintain balance between work and life commitments. Coworkers even make plans outside of work to promote their mutual health and wellbeing.
At Percepta, we understand the importance of having supportive coworkers who can recognize when it’s time for a break or when more help is needed to stay mentally healthy. We strive to create an atmosphere of understanding where everyone feels comfortable talking about issues and supporting each other during difficult times. Having a strong support network within the workplace makes all the difference when it comes to maintaining mental health and wellbeing.
How Percepta makes sure mental health is important
At Percepta, mental health is a top priority. You don’t have to be at Percepta long before you see a badge for one of our trained Mental Health First Aid Guides in an email signature. These are team members who are available to guide employees to support for any mental health issues they may be facing.
Percepta also offers a wide range of benefits designed to support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing for our people. We encourage employees to take part in activities that promote resilience and self-care, such as yoga classes or meditation sessions at lunchtime. Employees can also set personal wellness goals like getting more sleep or exercising regularly which can be tracked through the company’s wellness app.
These initiatives demonstrate how seriously a company like Percepta takes mental health in the workplace—providing employees with the tools and resources they need for a healthy work-life balance, while also supporting those who are suffering from mental illness or stress-related conditions.
